the story

For more than two decades, Christian and Heidi Batteau have worked in quiet, enduring dialogue—an evolving creative partnership shaped by time, intuition, and a shared pursuit of beauty. Over the past twelve years, that vision has been distilled into ASSEMBLAGE, the luxury wallcovering atelier they founded in 2013, where material and atmosphere converge with intention.

Now, they return to their origins-less a departure than a deepening. With Black Boat Collective, their practice expands once again into a more fluid, exploratory terrain. Here boundaries dissolve:between disciplines, between collaborators between the individual and the collective gesture. Together, and alongside a constellation of creatives gathered over time, they produce new bodies of work that invite curiosity, provoke dialogue, and celebrate the generative power of collaboration.
